Laptops have a number of advantages over stationary computers: light weight, portability, the ability to work where the electrical network is not available. At the same time, the need to accommodate a large number of electronic components in a limited volume leads to more severe operating conditions (due to poor cooling) and requires higher qualifications for laptop repair. However, even the average user can get their laptop repaired in some cases.

Instructions

Step 1

First of all, find and download on the Internet the instruction manual, device and disassembly of your laptop (service manual). The procedure for disassembling laptops from different manufacturers is very different. Without such instructions, you can damage the device during disassembly. This applies to complete disassembly of the laptop. It is not required when replacing a hard drive or RAM modules. In this case, it is enough to unscrew the cover screws of the corresponding compartment. Replacing the laptop battery is also not difficult. It is held, as a rule, on latches.

Step 2

Complete disassembly of the laptop will be required if the laptop turns off during operation, because the reason for this may be overheating of the laptop, namely, the processor and video card. The laptop shuts down when it reaches critical temperatures to avoid equipment failure. In order to eliminate this cause, it is necessary to clean the cooler and heatsink of the processor from dust, as well as the cooling system of the video card. In this case, you need to use a brush and a vacuum cleaner. It is advisable to replace the thermal grease on the processor and on the video chip. Remove old thermal grease. Apply a thin layer of thermal paste. It serves to better dissipate heat from the processor. If, after cleaning the laptop, it continues to turn off, it is advisable to contact a service center. Frequent overheating can damage the motherboard.

Step 3

If the operating system does not load, then hardware or software problems may be the cause. But in both cases, Windows at startup displays a message that some operating system files are missing or damaged. If restoring the missing files using the installation disc did not help, the reason may lie in a malfunction of the hard disk or RAM. In this case, you need to test these components with special programs. This can be done without booting Windows, under DOS.
