To create a local network with Internet access, you need to correctly configure the device that distributes the signal between computers or laptops. It doesn't matter if it's a Wi-Fi router or a DSL modem.
Instructions
Step 1
First, plug your DSL modem into an electrical outlet. Turn on the device. Connect a telephone line cable to the DSL port. It is recommended to use a splitter to make this connection.
Step 2
Locate the Ethernet or LAN connector on the device. Connect to it using a network cable, laptop or computer. Before proceeding with the configuration of the modem itself, change the parameters of the network adapter of your computer or laptop.
Step 3
Open the Network and Sharing Center. Select "Change network adapter settings". Open TCP / IPv4 settings. Activate the "Automatically obtain an IP address" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically" items.
Step 4
Turn on your browser. Enter the IP of your DSL modem in its address bar. In the case of a device from Acorp, this address has the value 10.0.0.2.
Step 5
A login and password entry window will appear on the screen. Most likely, you will need to enter the username admin and the password epicrouter. The main settings menu will open in front of you.
Step 6
Examine the contents of the left column. From the Configuration menu, select WAN setup. Click the Submit button.
Step 7
Contact your provider's specialists or visit its official forum. Find out the parameters to be specified in this menu and enter them.
Step 8
In the event that you need to set static network addresses for your computers and laptops, activate the Static IP Settings item. Set the range of valid IP addresses.
Step 9
Activate the Automatic Reconnect item. This will avoid problems when the connection is dropped. Click the Save & Reboot button. Your DSL modem will automatically reboot.
Step 10
Repeat the operation to enter the equipment settings menu. Click the Connect button and make sure the connection is up and running.
