The essence of the device lies in the fact that the user will be able to record on video the picture he is watching at the moment. But, unlike a video camera, the hands of the "operator" will be free. One of the presentations hosted an extreme show during which this feature was demonstrated. Four skydivers wearing Google Glass jumped into the sky over San Francisco.

The images from the devices were broadcast on screens in real time. Then the audience at the presentation received a picture from the glasses of cyclists who reached the demonstration site through the roofs. All the resulting video could be saved.

These files or any others can be viewed in the same glasses. True, according to journalists, while the size of the built-in monitor is not very large and not very conveniently located, the developers continue to work on it.

With the help of the device, it will be possible to take advantage of other Google developments. For example, at the moment it is possible to overlay an image from Google Maps on a video, receive a weather forecast and arrange video conferences.

Of course, with the help of augmented reality glasses, it will be possible to take photos of fairly good quality. Also, the gadget will become a kind of embodiment of a "wearable computer" - from it it will be possible to access the Internet, receive files, check e-mail.

To make the novelty convenient for most consumers, Google has partnered with optical companies. It is planned that augmented reality glasses will replace the standard pair with diopters.

It is not yet known how the device can be controlled. There have been reports that the touchpad, voice input and even control using head movements (due to the built-in gyroscope and accelerometer) will be used. True, during the demonstration of Google Glass on Gavin Newsom's talk show, only the touch panel on the temple was used to navigate the image gallery and enter and exit it.

Google Glass can theoretically be linked to a smartphone. But the company insists that it is more convenient to use a completely self-contained device. True, the final decision on this issue has not been made. It has also not been decided which wireless modules will be built into the new gadget.

While work on Google Glass continues. According to the creators, glasses will become available to a wide audience closer to 2014.
