The best way to get your TV repaired is, of course, to take it to a workshop. But if you are interested in technology and have experience with high voltage, then you can fix the problem yourself.
Instructions
Step 1
Start by cleaning your TV. Open the back cover of the case and use a soft brush and a special vacuum cleaner to clean the inner surfaces of the case, picture tube and board.
Step 2
Carefully inspect the board and the elements located on it. If you find swollen or burst capacitors, burnt resistors or transistors, then the problem is in them. Solder these elements.
Step 3
If you find that the picture tube has become cloudy and whitish, this means that there has been a loss of vacuum and the TV can only be repaired by replacing the picture tube.
Step 4
If there is no visible damage, check the operation of the power supply. First, disconnect the load (horizontal output stage) and connect an incandescent lamp (up to 100 W) instead. If the lamp flashed and went out, then the power supply is working. Turn it on and measure the voltage across the load with a voltmeter. Look on the board to see if there is an output voltage resistor near the power supply. The voltage should not exceed 110-150 V. If the voltage is higher, check the integrity of the elements of the primary circuit of the unit, as well as the feedback circuit. Check the capacitors too, as their capacity decreases significantly as they dry out.
Step 5
Check the connection in the line scan power circuit. Connect the incandescent lamp (instead of the fuse). If it flashed and went out, everything is in order. If it is on, make sure the output transistor is in good condition. If it is working properly and all the pulses are present, check the horizontal transformer and the horizontal deflecting coils.
Step 6
Check the vertical scan (if only the horizontal bar is visible on the screen). Check the power supply of the master oscillator and the output stage. Check the rectifier diode and vertical scan IC.
Step 7
Check all power supply circuits of the CRT. Sometimes a break can be found next to a pin. Use a hot soldering iron to remove some of the epoxy from the lead and repair the open, then refill the area with epoxy.
Step 8
Check the radio channel, video amplifier and color block of the TV. Check the control unit. Please note: when repairing it, you must use the diagram or reference materials, since each TV model has its own nuances when operating. You can find such materials on the Internet.
