So, you have everything you need to receive a signal from a satellite. The satellite equipment (antenna, converter, network card) was installed, the software for the network card was installed, the signal parameters were entered into the tuner program. However, the program indicator glows red, indicating that the signal from the satellite has not been recorded. Don't worry, this is how it should be. In order for the antenna to pick up the signal from the satellite, it must be accurately oriented towards it. This is exactly what we have to do now.

Necessary

plumb line, two-core wire, speaker, protractor, pointer goniometer, flat wooden rail 1.5-2 m long

Instructions

Step 1

Install the Satellite Antenna Alignmen software on your computer. Enter the coordinates of your home (settlement) and the longitude of the satellite into it. Write down the three parameters that the program will return in response to input:

• the angle of inclination of the antenna in relation to the horizontal;

• satellite azimuth;

• the time when the sun and satellite are in the same azimuth (solar azimuth time).

Step 2

Select a control point (landmark) on the terrain, the azimuth of which coincides with the azimuth of the satellite.

The reference point can be determined by the azimuth of the sun (the position of the sun) or by measuring the angle from a staff oriented north-south.

Step 3

Aim the antenna at the reference point and fix it in this position by tightening the corresponding nuts.

Attach the rail to the antenna along its vertical axis. Using a pointer goniometer, protractor or plumb line, set the angle between the staff and the horizontal, equal to the angle of inclination of the antenna.

Step 4

Connect one end of the wire to the computer's “BEEP” speaker (the one that beeps during post-control when the computer is turned on) and the other to the speaker located near the antenna.

Step 5

Slowly and carefully move the antenna to one side or the other from the original position. Do this until you hear the beep of the tuner program, which means that the signal from the satellite is fixed. Position the antenna where signal strength and quality are maximized.

Step 6

Tighten all antenna mounting bolts securely so that the antenna cannot be repositioned by the wind.
