Unlike other multimedia players, iPod touch is almost an exact replica of the iPhone. The only difference is the absence of a telephone module and smaller overall dimensions. The rest of the iPod touch has all the functions of its "big brother", including the ability to update software.
Instructions
Step 1
To update the software (firmware) of your high-tech gadget, you need iTunes. It doesn't matter at all whether you are an Apple iOS or Windows user - the program exists for both operating systems. You can download the latest version of iTunes on the official Apple website on the Internet at www.apple.com
Step 2
If you are already using iTunes, you can proceed to the next step.
The first time you start up, you'll need to connect your iPod touch to your computer with a USB cable and set up sync. To do this, in the main window of the program, open each of the tabs and specify which of the multimedia content of your iPod will be synchronized with your computer.
Step 3
After connecting iPod touch to your computer and launching iTunes, the program will automatically check the current firmware version. If a new software version is found, a dialog box will appear where you will be prompted to update. It will be enough to click the "Update" button. It is important that the computer is connected to the Internet.
Step 4
If you want to update manually, in the iTunes window, click the iPod icon in the left menu under Devices. In the main window, click the "Refresh" button. The search will search for the current software version, and if found, the program will offer to update the firmware.
Step 5
There is another option for manual update. If the computer is not connected to the Internet, and there is a pre-loaded firmware file on the hard disk, you can tell the program the path to this file to perform the update. While holding down the Shift key on your keyboard, in the main iTunes menu, click the "Update" button, select the firmware file and click the "Open" button. The software will be updated.
