Sooner or later every photographer is faced with a serious task - the choice of a camera. It is not easy to make it, because there are many proposals. In many ways, the choice of a good camera determines the purpose for which the device is purchased.

Step 1
The main division of cameras occurs according to the type of image fixation: film and digital cameras. Naturally, the market leaders are digital cameras: in all their parameters, they surpass film cameras.
Step 2
To make it easier to figure out which camera is the best option, it would be nice to remember that a camera has two key elements that have an important impact on image quality. This is a matrix and a lens.
Step 3
As for the lens, it can be interchangeable (for hybrid or SLR cameras) and non-replaceable (for compact devices). Having chosen the first option (such lenses are colloquially called "fixes"), the photographer can correct the optical properties of his camera. Cameras with fixed lenses - zooms - are cheaper.
Step 4
In addition, non-interchangeable and interchangeable lenses can have variable or fixed focal lengths. Additional capabilities of the camera affect not only the cost of the device, but also the quality of the resulting image.
Step 5
With a matrix, everything is easier. Here, the larger the physical dimensions of the light-sensitive element of the matrix, the better the image quality. In addition, the matrix has two important parameters: size (in popular camera models, it ranges from 1 / 1.8 to 1 / 3.2 inches) and resolution (measured in megapixels).
Step 6
An additional parameter is the presence of an image stabilizer (combats the “chatter” effect caused by hand shake). There are two options for image stabilization: optical (the lens has sensors that control the movement of the stabilizing element) and antishake (in this case, the matrix itself acts as a movable element).
Step 7
In addition, all digital cameras can be divided into three classes: compact, SLR and hybrid. A distinctive feature of SLR cameras is that sighting occurs using an optical viewfinder, which has a mirror in its design. Cameras of this type are large and expensive.
Step 8
Compact cameras are equipped with non-interchangeable lenses. Cameras of this class are aimed at picky buyers, as a rule, these are novice amateur photographers. Such cameras are inferior to SLR cameras in image quality.
Step 9
Hybrid cameras inherit interchangeable optics and a large sensor from DSLRs, as well as a wide range of options. From compact cameras "hybrids" have taken over the ability to sight on the display or with the help of an electronic viewfinder. Cameras of this group are distinguished by their small dimensions and high image quality.
