If you need to establish a local connection between computers, use one of the most common communication cables - twisted pair. When there is no such cable at hand, but the matter is urgent, and besides, its purchase will take up a significant part of the time - try to make such a cable at home. This procedure is simple in terms of the technical process. But it will require additional knowledge in this matter.

Cable crimping tool kit
Instructions
Step 1
In order to compress a twisted pair cable (connect a twisted pair cable with a plug), you will need:
- a device for stripping insulation (stripper);
- crimping pliers (similar to pliers);
- standard cable tester;
- "twisted pair" wire;
- RJ-45 plug.
Step 2
Cut the outer sheath of the twisted pair cable with a stripper. The cut should be at a distance of 3 cm from the edge.
Step 3
The cut insulation must be removed. Unwind the pairs and arrange them according to the colors indicated on one of the diagrams in the attached drawing.
Step 4
Then align the conductors. Squeeze the conductors tightly. Use a knife to remove excess conductors, leaving about 1 cm untwisted.
Step 5
After aligning the conductors, attach the plug to them as follows: the conductor cuts should reach the end of the grooves. The cable sheath must be taken out by the fixing latch, bring the cable to the stop.
Step 6
Check the color order of the wires again. After checking, place the plug into the crimp until it stops. Then squeeze both handles of the crimping tool. It is necessary to squeeze until the plug clicks into place (you will hear a characteristic sound). The most important thing is the control of the blades that press the knives. Make sure that they do not move past the contacts, because this will lead to a complete misalignment of the fork.
Step 7
Remove the finished crimped cable and visually look at the quality of the connection: if everything is in order, then you can start making the patch cord.
Step 8
A patch cord is a "twisted pair" cable in which the wire is crimped on both sides. To make it, you need to do the same thing that was done earlier, but on the other end of the "twisted pair" cable.
