A pickup is a special device that connects to musical instruments such as a guitar. It is designed to convert the vibrations of the strings into current. Its signal can be digitally processed to produce sound effects.

Necessary

  • - guitar;
  • - pickup;
  • - ohmmeter;
  • - oscilloscope.

Instructions

Step 1

Determine the polarity of the pickup leads before connecting the cartridge. The humbucker coils must be connected correctly. Connect the "plus" of the pickup to the volume potentiometer, and the "minus" to the body of the device.

Step 2

If you need to connect a pickup on which you did not find identification marks and you do not have a circuit for it, use the connection table. The image of the desoldering you need can be found at the following address https://lov-n-rov.ru/kak-podklyuchit-zvukosnimatel/. This table will help you if the sensor is branded and the wires are of a certain color.

Step 3

Determine the polarity of the single coil with an oscilloscope to connect the sound sensor. Connect an oscilloscope to the probe leads, then tap on the pickup. If the beam on the device deviates upward, then sign the conclusions in accordance with the terminals of the oscilloscope, its central core means "plus", and "minus" means the same sign of the sensor. If the beam of the device deviated downward, then on the contrary, "plus" corresponds to "minus".

Step 4

Identify the leads for each coil to connect the humbucker to. To do this, use an ohmmeter, measure all leads at the 20 kΩ limit. When the output of any coil is found, the device will display a value of about 1-10 kOhm. Sign the results, identify the pins of the second coil. Then find out the polarity of these coils as described in the previous step. Connect the minuses of the coils together and the pluses to the guitar.

Step 5

Connect the remaining unused leads that you could not ring with an ohmmeter. This is a screen, connect it to the body. Some sensors are equipped with outputs from a coaxial cable or a shielded wire, and then the shield braid is a "minus", while the "plus" will be the central core.
