Apple software updates include important fixes in the functionality and security of the device, and therefore it is necessary to periodically install them, i.e. reflash. IPhone firmware can be updated using iTunes software.
Instructions
Step 1
To update iPhone using a USB cable, download the latest iTunes utility from Apple's official website. Install it using the resulting installer file. Then launch your program and connect your iPhone to your computer using the cable that came with the device.
Step 2
Before updating your phone, create a backup copy of your data, since after the operation all the settings you made will be deleted. To create a backup, go to the "File" - "Devices" - "Create a backup copy" tab of the iTunes window. Once the backup has been created, you can proceed to flashing.
Step 3
Select your device in the "Devices" list on the left pane of the program window or click on the corresponding icon in the right corner of iTunes. After that, go to the "Overview" tab, and then click on the "Check for Updates" button.
Step 4
If a new version of the software has been released for your device, click on the "Update" button. Then click "Download and Update" in the dialog that appears. After the end of the procedure, you will see a corresponding notification on the screen of the program and the device. The flashing is complete.
Step 5
To restore the backup data, use the menu "File" - "Devices" - "Restore from backup". This feature will help you restore all your important settings that were lost during the flashing process.
