On September 24, 2019, a new unique smartphone from Xiaomi called Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha was announced, the display of which covers almost the entire area of the device. Is it worth the attention of consumers and does it have a future?
Design
Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha attracts attention thanks to its unusual shape and the manufacturer's interesting decision to create a display that covers the smartphone almost completely. And in theory it could only consist of a display, however, a small area was left for the camera, so the screen size is 7.92 inches (~ 180.8% of the device's surface).
Contrary to all opinions about the fragility of such a smartphone, the developers made a sapphire glass screen, and thanks to this, the device is reliably protected from drops.
There are no buttons for adjusting the volume, as well as buttons for turning on. In order for the Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha to respond only to touch, so to turn it on, you need to use the touch panels on the sides.
Above and below there are also frames for antennas, speakers and a charging port. The smartphone is available in only one color option - black. Height - 154.4 mm, width - 72.3 mm, thickness - 10.4 mm. Despite its large size, its weight is 241 grams, which is not that much.
The resolution is 2088 by 2250 pixels. The fingerprint scanner is right on the screen. To protect against accidental clicks, the smartphone has special sensors and artificial intelligence. The device scans the position in the hand - this will make the sensor active in the right place on the display. Thanks to the vibration motor, the side panels respond very well to pressing.
Camera
The Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha has a triple lens camera. If we consider the technical characteristics, then the main module has 108 MP and laser autofocus. The second module acts as a 12MP telephoto lens and provides 2x optical zoom. The third 20MP module is ultra wide-angle. Unfortunately, there is no front camera here.
The device can shoot videos in 4K format at 60 and 30 frames per second, which is quite good when compared with the flagships released in the period of 2019.

Unfortunately, the device lacks a port for a memory card, but a bundle with an internal memory of less than 512 GB cannot be found. There is also no port for wired headphones 3.5 mm, it is possible to use only wireless headphones. There are two SIM card slots.
Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha supports 5G and Bluetooth 5.0. The smartphone runs on the Android operating system.
