Scanning office documents, which are usually no larger than A4, is straightforward, since almost all scanners are designed to work with paper of this size. But when scanning drawings that often exceed the parameters of a standard sheet for a printer, it can be difficult. Several useful recommendations will help to create electronic copies of documents in A3-A0 formats.

It is necessary

  • - regular scanner
  • - any graphic editor
  • - Visio program

Instructions

Step 1

First, determine how many common printer sheets fit in the drawing. Mark the back of the document into A4 rectangles.

Step 2

Scan each designated area starting from the upper left corner. Then gradually move to the right. And after finishing processing the next row of marked rectangles, go down to the one below.

Step 3

When making a copy of each part, set the maximum size of the scanned area. This will allow you to get images containing not only the marked area, but also a slight overlap with another fragment.

Step 4

After all parts of the drawing have been scanned, place the pictures in one folder. Then look at the resulting images and, if necessary, correct the angle of inclination of the fragments of the drawing.

Step 5

Open Visio. From the File menu, select New Document. Then set the page size to match the size of the drawing on paper. To do this, in the "File" menu, click on the "Page setup" section and select the appropriate size from the list.

Step 6

Disable the services "Binding" and "Gluing", which are located on the toolbar in the program window. Then in the "Insert" menu select the inscription "Picture" and click on the item "From file".

Step 7

In the window that appears, mark the part of the drawing that was scanned first, and click the "Open" button. Drag the open image to the upper right corner of the workspace.

Step 8

From the Format menu, select Picture Format. Set the transparency of the image to 50% and click the "OK" button.

Step 9

Compare the vertical and horizontal lines of the part of the drawing with the guides of the grid that appears. If the fragment of the document is skewed, then in the "View" menu, select the section "Size and position". Then select the "Angle" field.

Step 10

Enter the degree measure of the angle by which you want to rotate the picture. If you want to change the tilt of the image clockwise, then specify a positive value. To turn in the opposite direction, enter the corresponding negative number. Press the Enter key.

Step 11

After adjusting the angle of inclination of a part of the drawing, make the picture opaque again. To do this, in the "Format" menu, click on the "Picture Format" section and select the transparency level equal to 0%.

Step 12

Insert the next fragment of the document and, if necessary, correct its slant. Align the picture with the first part of the drawing by holding down the Shift key and using the arrow keys on your keyboard. Thus, combine all parts of the drawing into one document.
