Samsung SCX 4100 is a multifunctional device that combines a scanner and a printer, which in combination can be used as a copying device. To work with the scanner of this device, a special application Samsung SmarThru 4 is intended, which, together with the device driver, is present on the optical disc included in the Samsung SCX 4100 package.
Instructions
Step 1
Install the device driver and the optional Samsung SmarThru 4 app if not already done. To do this, use the optical disc supplied with the device. If there is no such disk, then download the driver and the program from the manufacturer's website.
Step 2
Make sure the device is turned on and connected to your computer via USB or LPT port.
Step 3
Open the cover above the document glass and place the document to be scanned on it using the guide marks in the far left corner of the glass. The front (scanned) side of the document should face the glass. Close the lid, leaving no gaps if possible.
Step 4
Launch the Samsung SmarThru 4 app and click on the icon labeled “Scan”. As a result, an additional panel will appear at the program window, in which you need to select one of the scanning options. Using the Application tab, you can scan the source and transfer the resulting image to any program. Using the "E-mail" tab, scanning is carried out with the subsequent sending of the image to the specified email address. The "Folder" tab contains scanning commands with saving the result in your computer. The OCR tab assumes the transfer of the scan result to the OCR program. Choose the option you want.
Step 5
Set the desired values for color, resolution and scanning area on the selected tab, and then click the "Scan" button and the application will start the process of reading the image.
Step 6
Use the TWAIN interface to scan without using Samsung SmarThru 4. It is usually installed in the operating system by default. In this case, it is enough to select Samsung SCX 4100 as the source of the opened document in any program (graphics editor, OCR program, image viewer, etc.).
