Electronics rarely fail in Panasonic KX-T series wired and cordless telephones. The keyboard wears out much more often in such a device. To restore it, the device will have to be disassembled.

Instructions

Step 1

Disassembly is subject to the assembly inside which the keyboard is located. In the case of a wired telephone, this is the base, in the case of a cordless telephone, it is the handset. Before servicing, disconnect the device of the first type from the telephone network and the power supply unit (if any), remove the batteries from it (also if available). In the second type device, turn off the handset and then remove the battery from it.

Step 2

Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove all screws from the assembly to be disassembled. Some of them are under the stickers that will need to be removed or punctured. Please note that after breaking any seals, you will lose the right to warranty repair of the phone, therefore, during the warranty period, entrust its repair to the employees of the warranty workshop. If the screws are of different lengths, sketch the locations. If, after removing all the screws, the case still does not open, look for hidden screws in the battery compartment. On the tube, you will have to carefully disengage the latches.

Step 3

Take a picture of the keyboard. Remove the board pressed against it. Separate the shaped rubber sheet on which the pushrods and button closures are formed. Pull out the buttons themselves. Wipe the board contact pads with alcohol and let it dry completely. Place the rubber sheet and the buttons themselves in a mild dishwashing detergent solution for several hours. After that, rinse them with running water, and then dry them completely, without trying to speed up drying with a hairdryer.

Step 4

In accordance with the photo you took, place the buttons in the holes of the case. Cover them with a rubber sheet, replace the board and secure it with screws. Reassemble the tube or base in reverse order.

Step 5

Restore all connections, replace the removed batteries or accumulators, depending on which device you disassembled. Re-register the cordless telephone handset to the base if necessary. Make sure that the speaker, microphone, ringer are still working in the device. Check the keys - they should now work well.
