You called the help desk and heard an invitation to switch the telephone to tone mode, and then dial a few numbers in this mode. How can this be done?
Instructions
Step 1
Many push-button corded telephones have dedicated switches labeled "Pulse-Tone". If you are connected to a modern electronic PBX that supports tone mode, keep this switch in the "Tone" position at all times. If you only need the tone mode when making calls to information services and similar services, it is inconvenient to use this switch: it will wear out, moreover, some devices react to a change in its position only after the handset is on and off again.
Step 2
In cordless telephones, especially the DECT standard, the same switching is done via the menu. But using this method when calling help desk services is also inconvenient.
Step 3
For this reason, if your PBX does not support tone mode, it is better to temporarily switch to it like this. After calling the help desk in pulse mode, press the button with an asterisk. After that, all further keystrokes will trigger the transmission of tones. After you hang up the handset, the device will automatically switch to pulse mode again.
Step 4
When calling from cell phones, no switching is required to transmit tones. Even if you yourself do not hear them, in fact, they are still transmitted to the subscriber. If it turns out that there is no reaction to keystrokes, find the item in the phones menu that allows you to turn on the DTMF signal transmission mode, and activate it.
Step 5
Sometimes it becomes necessary to transmit tones from wired telephones in which this mode is not provided at all. By the way, such a device can also be push-button, it's just quite old. Then switch your cell phone to such a mode that tones when you press the keys are heard directly from its speaker (if the device has such a mode). Bring its speaker to the microphone of the handset of the wired apparatus. After typing the corresponding numbers on the keypad of the cell phone, then press the end call button so that there is no call. There are also special devices for acoustic transmission of DTMF signals - beepers.
