There are two types of dialing a phone number: tone and pulse. Pulse dialing has been used in landline telephones with a rotary dial. Modern devices use tone dialing.
Instructions
Step 1
Pulse mode is most often used by default in phone settings. It can be distinguished from the tonal one by its characteristic crackle. In tone dialing, an individual tone is heard. But when using an autoinformer, you need to press various combinations of numbers, which is impossible in this dialing mode. To briefly turn on the tone dialing mode, press "*", then the key you need. But on the next call, the tone mode will be disabled.
Step 2
To convert the pulse dialing mode to tone, you need to familiarize yourself with the instructions for a particular telephone set. In Siemens Gigaset phones, the tone mode is activated by using the following combination: press the call key, then call the function by dialing "10". In the menu that appears, click button 1 (tone mode).
Step 3
In VoxteL phones, to use the tone mode, press the "programming" button, then the key combination "* -2-2". After the beep sounds, press "*" and the "Program" button again. Also in DECT phones on the base there is a button for switching the pulse mode to tone.
Step 4
In modern Panasonic phones, tone mode is enabled on the side of the base. Just slide the slider to TONE (tone dialing mode). In older models, go to the phone menu, find the "Call Programming" item and select "Key Tone Mode". Please note that there are exceptions in the phone settings. If you do not find this item, read the instructions.
