Home computers have in the past been designed to be connected to televisions. A modern car works in conjunction with a monitor, but if you wish, you can connect it to a TV.
Instructions
Step 1
Disconnect power to the TV and computer and any devices connected to them. Disconnect the antenna from the TV if it is shared.
Step 2
If you are using a laptop, look on the back of the laptop for a circular connector, similar to the one used for a PS / 2 keyboard or mouse, but with four pins instead of six. If there is one, the computer can be connected to a TV. Buy a special adapter that converts an S-Video signal into a composite video signal. Serve it on the TV.
Step 3
If you cannot find such an adapter on the market, make it yourself. Use pins 1 and 2 as general pins. The signal on pin 3 carries luminance and sync information, but not chrominance. It can be fed to the TV without any additional connections, but the picture will be black and white. To make it colored, you will have to use pin 4, which has chrominance subcarriers. They should be fed to the TV not directly, but through a capacitor with a capacity of several hundred picofarads. If desired, it can be selected for the best image quality. If there is no S-Video plug, it can be made from a plug from a damaged keyboard or mouse by removing unnecessary pins.
Step 4
In a desktop computer, you will have to replace the video card with a special one that is equipped with a video output. It can be S-Video, like a laptop, or RCA, like a regular VCR or DVD player. In the first case, send the signal to the TV as described above, in the second - directly.
Step 5
The TV itself can be equipped with a SCART connector. In this case, apply a signal through the RCA-SCART adapter or, having bought the appropriate plug, use the following contacts: 17 - common, 20 - input.
Step 6
Reconnect the antenna to the TV and apply power to all devices. Turn on the TV and set it to AV mode from the remote control. If it has multiple inputs, select the one to which the computer is connected. Turn on the computer - if the image appears immediately both on the monitor and on the TV, you do not need to do anything additional. Such a video card will produce a composite video signal in Linux, DOS, Windows and any other operating system. If the picture appears only on the monitor, it will be possible to display the image on the TV only after installing the driver. This can usually only be done on Windows.
