Glass making is a rather complicated and time-consuming process that requires certain conditions (high-temperature furnaces, etc.) and specific materials, as well as special skills and abilities. That is why it is very difficult and almost impossible to make glass at home. But do not be upset, there are many opportunities for self-production of decorative glass or souvenirs from it.
Necessary
Glass, paints, resin
Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the glass, any paint for it, and a binder. As the latter, you can purchase a conventional, inexpensive polyester resin.
Take any simple transparent thin glass. It can be found in many different places, for example, by looking for waste in the enterprise, old frames, glasses, etc.
Step 2
Crush the glass. This can be done with a hammer. To do this, take the glass, lay it on the end of a dense fabric, cover with the other end and gently knock with a hammer until it is completely crushed. Pour the crushed mass into a container and add the binder and your dye there. Prepare any small shapes.
Step 3
Put the resulting mass of glass, dye and binder in a mold and wait until it hardens completely. As a form, you can use children's plastic molds, baking dishes made of aluminum or steel, as well as many other devices, including paper ones.
Step 4
Remove the resulting frozen glass rectangle from the mold. Thus, the result is a rectangular tile of decorative glass. If you use a form made of paper or cardboard, after removing the glass, rinse it with warm water until the adhered paper is completely removed. You can make decorative glass of any shape (round, square, rectangular, triangular, etc.).
