Step 1
Study the phone number of the business. If it consists of two parts, then the first will be responsible for the main company number, and the second, which, as a rule, is taken in parentheses, for the additional one. It is he who will allow you to connect with the desired department. Dial the main number of the organization on the phone and call. An answering machine will answer you.
Step 2
You must listen to his entire greeting, otherwise it may fail and you will have to re-dial the number. At the end of the message, you will hear a listing of the main extensions and an offer to dial the required one after a characteristic signal.
Step 3
Make sure your landline phone is in tone mode. This is necessary in order to contact the extension normally. If it is disabled, then just press the "star" button on the phone, which is located under the main dialing buttons. A number of telephones for this purpose are equipped with a special Pulse-Tone button. If the device initially works in tone mode, then just start dialing the extension number.
Step 4
Wait for the phone to switch to tone mode. Start entering the digits of the extension number, and you will hear short beeps at different frequencies. This means that you have successfully switched to tone dialing mode.
Step 5
Dial the extension and wait for an answer. In some cases, the PBX may fail and connect you incorrectly. If this happened, then you need to contact the respondent and ask him to independently switch to the required number. As a rule, employees of any company are loyal to this problem. Otherwise, you will need to redial the main and extension numbers.
Step 6
Do not make calls from mobile phones to extension numbers. The fact is that they do not always support the tone mode of the PBX, as a result of which you are unlikely to get through. Also, these calls are charged as city calls, and the countdown starts from the moment you called the answering machine. As a result, you may be disconnected due to a lack of funds on your mobile account.
