Some mobile operators only provide unlimited access to the mail server at a significantly reduced rate compared to regular unlimited Internet access. In order to use this service, you will have to carry out a simple phone setup.
Instructions
Step 1
If your mobile operator is Megafon in the Moscow region, you can activate a service called Mobile Mail. Its description and connection procedure are located on the next page:
www.moscow.megafon.ru/internet/frommobile/services/mobile_mail.html For a monthly fee of 60 rubles per month, you will get unlimited access to a special mail server. You can connect to it both through the web interface and by an email program. Please note that with browsers that work through proxy servers (Opera Mini, UCWEB and the like), traffic will still be charged, since in this case access is carried out through a different URL. You can use the service from the phone itself (using its built-in browser or mail client) and from a computer connected to the phone. But keep in mind that browsers running on computers often generate a small amount of traffic “without demand” to statistics servers, as well as to servers designed to counter phishing. If your computer is running Linux, you can use the netstat command to determine which other servers besides the mail server are accessed. By manipulating the browser settings, you should ensure that such calls stop. If the built-in browser of your phone is so inconvenient that it is difficult to use it to access the mail server, you should install a special Java application specially designed to work with the Mobile Mail service. Regardless of how you use the service - from a phone or from a computer, be sure to set an access point (APN) in the settings to work with the Internet, not WAP. Through the web interface, you can configure your mobile mailbox in such a way that messages were automatically received from the rest of your mailboxes located on other servers
Step 2
If you only want to receive notifications about incoming mail in the form of SMS messages, you can use another service of the same Megafon called MegaFon Mail. The "light" version of this service is most convenient, since it does not have a subscription fee. A description of this service is posted at the following address:
Step 3
Subscribers of other operators can receive free e-mail notifications on their phones. But with one condition: the mailbox must be located on the Mail. Ru server. True, only message headers will be delivered, and you will have to watch them using the browser of your phone or computer. A description of this service can be found on the next page:
