Unfortunately, Apple's gadget warranty does not provide free repairs in the event of glass or screen damage. If this does happen, then you can purchase a new glass yourself in any online store and replace it.
It is necessary
- - a tool with a wide flat surface and a screwdriver;
- - rubber mat or soft cloth;
- - hairdryer.
Instructions
Step 1
Place your Apple iPad on a flat surface. This can be a rubber mat or soft cloth. Use a tool with a wide, flat surface, insert it between the top left edge of the front and rear panels.
Step 2
Pry up the glass with a tool and gently pull upwards. Insert something into the gap so that it does not close again.
Step 3
Move a flat tool along the glass surface and carefully open all latches. Lift the front panel and set it aside, but do not move it far away as it connects with the rest of the device in a flat cable.
Step 4
Disconnect all sensors connected to the loop. You will need to disconnect the digitizer, light sensor, and data wires from the display. Use a flat tool again to pry out the connectors of all sensors. Then, carefully pull the connectors out of the jacks. Using a flat tool, pull the ambient light sensor assembly out of its socket. Remove the display data wire from the main board. Pull on the black plastic tab to disconnect the wire from the socket.
Step 5
Lift the front panel and carefully turn it over. Pry up the light sensor and pull it out of the adhesive in which it is attached. Then, gently peel back the tape that holds the digitizer against the screen bezel.
Step 6
Remove the three Phillips screws that hold the latches and display brackets in place. Use a small Phillips screwdriver to do this. Detach the mounts and tape from the screen. Then remove the remaining Phillips screws from the screen frame.
Step 7
Detach the LCD from the screen frame. Use a flat tool to clean the display glue holding it in the frame. If you are worried about breaking it due to excessive pressure during removal, you can leave the screen in place and proceed to the next step.
Step 8
Remove and transfer the electromagnetic tape from the top edge of the front glass panel to the new iPad glass panel. Remove the two Phillips screws holding the Home button.
Step 9
Use a hair dryer to soften the adhesive holding the plastic frame to the front glass panel and remove it. Next, heat up and remove the plastic frame near the digitizer wire from the front glass panel.
Step 10
Install the new iPad glass panel and assemble your gadget. It is very important not to press or apply too much force on the plastic parts during the assembly process.
