Formatting your phone's removable memory cards allows you to free up space to download more music, pictures and videos. Removable memory cards can even serve as an alternative storage location for your notes and addresses.
Necessary
- - memory card;
- - adapter for memory card.
Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the memory card for formatting. Decide if you want to do this using your phone or computer. If you decide to use a computer, remove the memory card from your phone and insert it into the adapter. Otherwise, make sure the card is in the phone and it is turned on.
Step 2
Go to the menu and select "Phone Options". Find the menu there called Media Card or "Memory Card". If your phone has a separate manager for editing memory, go to it.
Step 3
Click the Options button. Make sure memory card support is enabled. Then select "Format". This function can be found in the general list. After selecting formatting, you will be able to choose between formatting the memory card and / or the memory of the phone itself. Select "Multimedia Card" unless otherwise required. Keep in mind - you will lose all data stored on your card.
Step 4
Press "OK" when your phone asks for format confirmation. Your memory card will now begin to format as indicated by the corresponding indicator. Do not turn off the power or leave this screen. After formatting is complete, the phone will notify you and the indicator will no longer be visible. You may need to click "OK" to complete the process.
Step 5
Format the memory card using a computer, if you wish, for which place the adapter with it in the appropriate slot. You can also connect to your computer using an external USB cable if it doesn't have the required slot. After plugging in the memory card, select "My Computer" from the Windows menu. Select the memory card that should appear in this folder. Right click on "Menu" and select "Format". After that, you will be prompted to start formatting, and you can follow the same steps as when formatting via your phone.
