Many people today find great use for old things. Don't rush to throw away your old, seemingly unnecessary VCR. If you connect it to a monitor, you can watch your favorite movies and TV shows in excellent quality.

Instructions
Step 1
Take a monitor (assuming you already have a VCR). If you can find a multi-system monitor model with video input, then you can connect the VCR to the monitor directly. However, most of the video inputs of monitors support only one standard, and the rest are much more expensive.
Step 2
Purchase a TV tuner card and install it on your computer (it's pretty easy to do). In this case, the system is not remote, that is, the computer must be turned on. However, not everyone wants to wait for the computer to boot up and constantly click the mouse to watch the movie.
Step 3
If for some reason the idea with a board does not suit you, buy a stand-alone TV tuner with an RGB monitor output (in fact, this is a better way to connect a VCR to a monitor than through a TV tuner board). An external TV tuner will switch the signal from the VCR, and in this case the parameters are controlled remotely. The additional device (the TV tuner itself) is quite compact and does not take up much space, moreover, there are usually no problems with its purchase.
Step 4
Connect a TV tuner. Each TV tuner has instructions according to which you need to connect it to a monitor and a VCR. Connection to a VCR is made through an adapter with three "tulips" - yellow (or S-Video), red and white. The adapter is usually purchased complete with a TV tuner.
Step 5
Purchase a cable. The adapter included in the kit has a tulip connector at both ends, but a VCR with a SCART connector requires an appropriate cable, where there is a SCART on one side and tulips on the other. It is bought separately (make sure that the “tulips” are not inputs, but outputs).
Step 6
Turn on the assembled system. Then insert the cassette into the VCR and enjoy watching your favorite movie through the monitor!
