There are several ways to connect your JVC camcorder to your computer. The choice of one or another of them depends on the type of information carrier on the used camcorder: film or hard disk.

Step 1
MiniDV and HDV camcorders using tape as a medium are connected using a DV cable. It comes bundled with the camcorder.
Step 2
To connect the camera to a computer, take a DV cable and connect one end to the DV out connector on the camcorder. Connect the other end to the IEEE1394 connector on the computer system unit. This connector is also called FireWire or i. Link. Then press the power button on the camcorder. The computer will detect the connection of the new device. It should be noted that not all computers have this connector by default. If you do not have it, you need to purchase a PCI card with IEEE1394 interface and connect it to the PC motherboard.
Step 3
Also, the camcorder can be connected to a computer using the supplied USB cable. To do this, take a cord and connect one end of it to the usb connector of the camcorder, the other end to the corresponding connector of the computer system unit. After that, press the power button on the camera and wait until it is detected by the system. For cameras using a hard disk or memory card as a storage medium, this is the main connection method.
Step 4
Some camcorder models require special drivers to work. They are usually included in the kit and are located on a CD. To install them, insert the disc into your computer drive and wait for it to load. Then select "Install driver". If required, indicate the model of your camcorder and the type of operating system you are using. After installing the drivers, restart your computer.
Step 5
If there were no drivers in the kit, but the system requires their installation, download them from the manufacturer's official website. To do this, launch a web browser, go to the jvc.ru website, select the required model and download the drivers. Install them and then restart your computer.
