When changing a mobile phone, the consumer faces a global problem - how to transfer contacts from the previous device to a new one. This is not always easy (and not always possible), but there are several ways.
Instructions
Step 1
There is, of course, the oldest and proven method for years - transferring contacts to a new device via a sim card, having previously copied the contents of the old phone's contact book there. Unfortunately, this method is far from suitable for everyone due to the limited amount of SIM-card memory, problems with the Russian-language encoding and the lack (for the present time) of input fields for a contact. This method, perhaps, can be left as a last resort.
Step 2
Once you have the ability to use a computer as an intermediary between the devices (that is, both have the ability to connect and access the phone book), things become much easier. All that remains is to translate the contact list into a format that is understandable for both devices. For example, in the Microsoft Outlook format.
Step 3
Third-party programs will help you retrieve data from your old device (if it is not a communicator and does not have this ability by default) (for example, for Nokia phones it will be Nokia PCSuite).
Step 4
Save the data on your computer and sync the new machine with it.
Step 5
In some cases (for example, when switching from Windows Mobile to the Android platform), you can avoid using an intermediary computer and use multiplatform programs designed for this purpose (for example, Sprite Migrate).
Step 6
If your device allows, you can use a remote data synchronization service, such as the one provided by Google.
Step 7
If we are talking about changing the device within the same platform, you can simply make a backup of the data you are interested in to an external media or computer, and then restore them to a new phone.
