A glow plug is a device that ignites the fuel in a car. Usually candles serve quite a long amount of time, but there are cases of their unforeseen breakdowns, as a result of which these devices have to be removed from the engine.

Step 1
First, remove the visible part of the glow plug from the covers. After that, carefully disconnect all wires, observing safety precautions when working with electricity. With the help of any device that you have that blows air, clean the place where the candle is planted from all kinds of dust and dirt, also scrape off deposits on the metal if necessary, otherwise all this debris may fall into the socket. After that, use any hexagon and unscrew the faulty igniter. However, there are times when the glow plug is exposed to mechanical damage, in particular, to the chipping of the upper part.
Step 2
With this kind of breakdown, it is necessary to arm yourself with a special torque wrench that regulates the applied force. Put it on the surviving piece of the candle and smoothly begin rotating movements. Keep the wrench strictly perpendicular to the igniter axis. Do not under any circumstances make sudden movements. Also listen to the sound when rotating. If the candle creaks, it means that it is twisting, but in the event that the igniter starts to turn, immediately stop all actions. Otherwise, you run the risk of disrupting the thread.
Step 3
If unscrewing the plug is very difficult, carefully pour a small amount of special solvent into its socket. Then wait for the substance to clean the threads. Then continue to rotate the glow plug in smooth movements. Also remember that a broken candle can be unscrewed by turning it in different directions in turn. Do not forget that the operation to remove the igniter must be carried out on a cooled engine, since the metal tends to expand at an elevated temperature, as a result of which the candle can be clamped in its socket.
