Step 1
Make sure your phone is out of warranty. If the warranty is still valid, it is better to contact an official service center, especially since warranty repairs are free. Remember that after any independent intervention in the phone, the warranty workshop employees will refuse to service it free of charge.
Step 2
If the warranty period has expired, make the decision to carry out the repair yourself depending on which component in it has failed. It is impossible to replace a microcircuit in a BGA package without the appropriate skills and equipment, but almost anyone can change the display, flex cable or joystick. If you are not able to determine what exactly broke in the phone, it is better not to undertake repairs on your own.
Step 3
Buy a dedicated screwdriver set for phone repair. In the markets, such kits are unreasonably expensive, so it is better to purchase them in a store that specializes in telephone spare parts. You can also purchase the component you are going to replace in the phone there. If you decide to have your phone repaired in a workshop, you may also need to visit a spare parts store. The fact is that craftsmen often unreasonably overstate the prices of components. By purchasing a spare part in the store, you will only pay the technician for its replacement. Many parts are fragile, so they should be transported with care.
Step 4
Disassembling a candy bar phone is usually straightforward. If you have a slider or a clamshell, you will have to find step-by-step instructions on the Internet. Use the search string like: "how to disassemble (phone model)". If the search is unsuccessful, modify the line until the instructions for disassembling your phone are found. It must be illustrated; the iPhone is an exception to this rule. Despite the fact that it is neither a slider nor a clamshell, the order of disassembly of this phone is not trivial. For this reason, you will also have to find instructions for disassembling it.
Step 5
First of all, turn off your phone and remove the battery from it. When disassembling the device according to the step-by-step instructions, fold all its parts so that they cannot get lost or fall on the floor. Memorize or sketch how long the screws are located in which holes. Place them in a separate jar. It is very good if the screwdriver is magnetized (most screwdriver kits for cell phone repair meet this requirement).
Step 6
Replace the defective component in the phone. Reassemble the phone in reverse order and make sure it works.
