Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet computers with Google Android OS have been banned for sale in the US and EU. This court decision was made as a result of the confrontation between Apple and Samsung.

Back in 2010, Apple filed a lawsuit against the South Korean company Samsung Electronics, accusing it of using its patented technologies, copying various elements of the user interface and design of Apple devices based on iOS. These elements, according to Apple, are used in Samsung mobile devices, including its Galaxy Tab tablets.

In 2011, in the EU, the Regional Court of Dusseldorf issued a judgment that is binding on all EU countries except the Netherlands. According to him, the tablet should have been removed from sale throughout the European Union until some other decision was made. The result of long proceedings in September 2011 was a ban on the distribution of some Galaxy models only in Germany.

In June 2012, a California court ruled to temporarily ban the sale of tablets in the United States. Arguments were made that the Galaxy Tab 10.1 copies not only the interface, but even the boxes of the American company's products. However, the South Korean firm is not giving up and is going to appeal the court decision.

Apple is opposed not only to Samsung, but also to other firms that it believes are copying its patented technologies. With all such devices banned, her cross-licensing plans will become more realistic. Cross-licensing involves the sharing of patented technologies between companies. In this case, Apple will receive more patent royalties.

Some experts believe that such actions by Apple are directed primarily against the proliferation of devices running on the Google Android OS. Another reason, perhaps, is that Galaxy tablets are competitors to iPads.

It is worth noting that the ban on sale does not apply to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, another product from the Samsung line.
