Wi-Fi is a wireless data transmission standard, the signal of which is transmitted through a special device called a router. Connection to a Wi-Fi network is carried out using a network card installed in a computer, a USB module or a modern mobile device.
Instructions
Step 1
Wi-Fi is configured through a router (router) - a device that converts a wired signal from a fiber-optic network or modem into a wireless one. To create an access point, you need to install an Internet wire in the WAN port of the router and make the appropriate settings. If your computer does not have a built-in network card that allows you to work with wireless networks, the router can be connected through the PC1-PC5 ports using a special cable.
Step 2
Once the router is connected, you need to configure it in accordance with the instructions for use and the network parameters provided by your provider. Usually, to configure the connection, you need to open a browser and enter an Internet address like 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 to enter the device control panel. After entering the administrator login and password, you can use the available functions to change the settings.
Step 3
To use Wi-Fi through a computer running on the Windows operating system, left-click on the Internet connection icon in the lower right part of the monitor. Select the appropriate access point from the available access points for connection. If necessary, enter the connection password and click "OK". If the data was entered correctly, you will be able to use a wireless connection and open Internet pages through a browser.
Step 4
Similarly, the connection to a Wi-Fi network is performed in operating systems of the Linux family. In the upper right corner, click on the connection icon. In the list provided, select your wireless network, and then click "Connect". If necessary, enter the network password and click Connect.
Step 5
If you want to use your mobile device to access the Internet via a wireless protocol, go to the corresponding item in the settings menu. To turn on Wi-Fi on Android, swipe down and tap on the Wi-Fi icon at the top of the menu that appears. To select an active access point, hold your finger on the icon for 1 second. You will see the connection setup menu. Click on the line with the name of the required connection and select "Connect" by entering the appropriate password.
Step 6
To activate the connection in iOS, swipe up on the home screen and then select the Wi-Fi option. Activate the wireless connection. In the list of available networks that appears, specify your access point and enter the required password. After making the connection, you can use the Internet from your mobile device.
