More recently, the number of devices connected to the network was limited by the number of ports in a modem or switch. However, the issue was resolved with the advent of Wi-Fi wireless access. Now you can easily connect two computers so that one of them has access to the Internet through the other.
Instructions
Step 1
Check the Wi-Fi operation on all PCs, the presence of drivers on them. Open the "Network and Sharing Center" ("Start" - "Control Panel" - "Network and Sharing Center").
Step 2
In the upper left corner of the window, select "Manage wireless networks". Click Next. In the window that opens, enter the name of the network (think of it yourself, for example home or 321).
Step 3
Set the security type to WEP and enter the security key (select the key according to standard rules - it should not be too simple, but it should be easy for you to remember). Check the box next to "Save this network settings" and click "Next". Close the window.
Step 4
Set up Wi-Fi on the second PC. In the lower right corner of the second computer screen, open the connections icon. The list of opened connections should show "Wireless network connection home". Click Connect. The computer will ask for a security key (remember the one invented earlier), enter it and click "OK". The computers have completed the wireless connection.
Step 5
To set up Internet access, go back to the first PC. Open the "Network and Sharing Center" and look there for all existing connections (including the newly configured connection to PC # 2). Click Change Advanced Sharing Options. Include all items. Save your changes.
Step 6
Go to the properties "Local Area Connections". In access, uncheck all the checkboxes (where they are), click "OK" and close the window. Similarly, you need to do with the "Wireless network connection (home)".
Step 7
Go to the properties of "High-speed connection", click on access. Check the box next to Allow other network users to use this computer's Internet connection. Select "Wireless Network Connection", uncheck all the boxes, click "OK". Close the window. Restart "Broadband Connection".
Step 8
On PC # 2, connect to the home wireless network connection, enter the security key and click “OK”. As a result, you will have two computers connected via Wi-Fi and having access to the Internet. Similarly, you can connect a netbook or mobile phone.
