Step 1
If you want to quickly cut an element of a video file without resorting to changing its properties, use the Sony Vegas program. In this case, you can use almost any version of the utility.

Install Sony Vegas and restart your computer. Open this program and go to the File menu. Click the Open button and wait for the Windows Explorer window to open. Navigate to the directory containing the desired video file. Select the clip with the left mouse button and click Add.

If the video is not added to the render bar automatically, perform this action yourself. Find the beginning of the section you want to cut from the shared track. Select it with the left mouse button and press the S key.

Now move the cursor to the last frame of the fragment. Press the S button again. After selecting the segment, right-click on it and select the Save As field. Wait for the new dialog menu to start. Enter a name for the file and select a directory to save it.

Sometimes after changing the files, it may not work correctly. In such situations, it is necessary to use a software decoder. Start Sony Vegas and open the saved snippet.

Open the Options tab and activate the Render As function. Start saving your new video. Activate the Render loop region only function by checking the box next to the item of the same name.

Change advanced video parameters. Most often, you can slightly improve the quality of the picture. This is relevant only in cases where the original resolution does not exceed 800x600 pixels. Please be aware that making significant changes to the video image will usually increase the size of the final file.
