Step 1
We take a tester. We turn it on and put it in the "dialing" mode. This is a mode in which the tester probes, when in contact with each other, emit a sound confirming the passage of a signal in the circuit.
Step 2
We take the wire. We connect the first cable of the tester to one of its ends. With the second probe of the tester, touch the opposite end of the wire. We are waiting for the sound signal to appear. If the sound appears, then the wire is working.
Step 3
If no sound appears, check the reliability of the contacts between the tester and the wire and try again. If there is no sound, the wire is faulty.
Step 4
In the case of a stranded wire, in turn, connect the second probe of the tester to the conductor under test. Until there is sound or no sound. We repeat this operation in turn with all the cores of the wire.
