Home video cameras are a great invention that helps millions of people to keep the interesting moments of their lives. But if you want to share these recordings with someone, it is convenient to burn a DVD from the camera. DVDs are by far the most popular way to store and distribute videos, from weddings to birthdays or vacation trips. You can contact the digitizing studio, which will record everything for you on discs. But it is quite possible to do this work yourself.
Instructions
Step 1
Determine the type of camera you are using. There are digital cameras, they are labeled mini DV, and they use small cassettes to record video. These devices provide video output through the FireWire digital output to a computer, as well as an analog output for connection directly to a TV. Another type is analog camcorders that use VHS or hi8 videotapes, a smaller version of them. The easiest option is cameras that record video in computer file format to the built-in hard drive or memory card.
Step 2
If you have the latter option, then simply connect the camera to the computer with the supplied cable, or insert the memory card into the card reader and copy the files.
Step 3
If you have an older camera, buy and install the necessary video capture equipment on your computer. For digital cameras, this is a FireWire controller or a 1394 card. For analog and digital cameras, a video capture card or TV tuner with tulip inputs is suitable. Usually TV tuners are used to watch TV channels on a computer, but they also have a recording function, that is, encoding analog video. So you can connect the miniDV-camera to the tuner with the same cable as to the TV. The quality will be slightly worse than for the FireWire interface, but this method is easier and more convenient.
Step 4
Install video recording software. The best solution is Pinnacle Studio software, current version # 15. With this program, you can easily record, process and rewrite any video from a digital camera as well as an analog one to a DVD disc. If you have a camera on analog cassettes, and you have purchased a TV tuner or video capture card, then you will receive proprietary programs for recording and processing data in the kit with them. Another option for digital cameras is ScenalyzerLive 4.0 and AnyVideoConverter for video capture and compression.
Step 5
Connect the camera to your computer. Connect the 1394 ports of the controller and the camera if you have a digital video camera. In other cases, connect the video output of the camera to a TV tuner or a picture capture card. Turn the camera into playback mode.
Step 6
Launch your video software, locate the Record button and click it. To store and process files, you will need a lot of free space on your computer's hard drive - take care of this in advance. Save the video file in MPEG-2 format, such an option is available in any video program.
Step 7
Start the Nero Burning Rom program. Select the project type "DVD-Video". Specify the folder with the files recorded (copied) from the camera and insert a blank DVD into the drive. Press the button "Record" and wait until the end of processing and data recording.
