Both landline and mobile phones can suddenly stop ringing, and all other functions of the device will work normally. Before eliminating this malfunction, you need to find the cause of its occurrence.

Step 1
A corded telephone with an electronic ringer may stop ringing if it is accidentally (even if the case is wiped) turned the Ringer switch to the Off position. To make such a telephone start ringing again, slide this switch to the Lo position for a medium ringer volume, or to the Hi position for it to ring loud.
Step 2
If the phone's ringer is electromechanical, the ringer volume may drop sharply. To make it big again, find a regulator on its bottom, then set it to the desired audio level.
Step 3
For a phone with caller ID, the call signal may disappear due to the fact that the volume slider is in the minimum position. Just pick it up.
Step 4
If the telephone that connects to the line not with two, but with three wires (typical for Bulgarian phones) stops ringing, then the one that connects the call has gone. Remove the telephone plug from the socket, reconnect this wire to the terminal from which it came off, and then, having previously assembled the plug again, reconnect it.
Step 5
For a cell phone, the ringer volume is adjusted via the menu. Having found that the ringer is turned off, turn it on again (how to do this depends on the model of the device). Also, most phones have so-called profiles, some of which are designed so that the phone does not ring. If you have chosen such a profile, switch it to another one. The way in which this switching is performed also depends on the model of the device. For example, in Nokia phones, a short press on the power button is usually enough to display the profile selection menu.
Step 6
Also, speaker malfunction may be the reason for the cell phone not ringing. Usually, the voice and calls on the phone are played by different speakers, so in such a problem you will not hear the interlocutor anyway. A speaker is a very inexpensive item available in almost every phone parts store. But it is recommended to change this component yourself only if you already have experience in repairing cell phones.
