Instructions

Step 1

If you never come across a pattern for embroidery that would inspire, or you want to create a unique embroidered canvas that no one else will have, then a computer and a photoshop program will help you with this. Open the image that you want to turn into an embroidery design in it. Select the main menu item Image - Adjustments - Posterize. Keep in mind that the lower the levels you set, the fewer colors will remain in the image. This step will help get rid of too many color casts.

Step 2

Select the main menu item Filter - Pixelate - Mosaic. In this filter, the smaller the Cell Size, the more squares you get. You can put, for example, 6. After applying this filter, the whole image will consist of many squares.

Step 3

If the picture you have chosen as a basis is small, then select the Image - Image Size main menu item and increase the size of the image in it.

Step 4

In order to remove the haze of the squares after enlarging them, apply a sharpening filter to the image several times. To do this, select the main menu item Filter - Sharpen - Sharpen.

Step 5

To embroider it was convenient to divide the picture into 10 by 10 squares. Use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + R, after which rulers will appear on the left and top. Use the mouse to drag out the guides from these rulers and mark the center of the image.

Step 6

Select the Line Tool and use it to draw vertical and horizontal lines right along the guides. Draw lines every 10 cells. As a result, you will have an image consisting of small squares and marked with larger squares.

Step 7

Now you can print the resulting picture, choose the threads that match the colors and start embroidery.
