OEM car radios do not have line outputs. This greatly complicates the task of connecting an amplifier to them. To connect the amplifier to such a radio, you need to use a special line-in matching adapter.
Instructions
Step 1
Purchase a line-in adapter to connect an amplifier without line-out. With this device, you can match the output signal to the desired value of the amplifier input signal. These values differ from one manufacturer to another. For example, Kenwood amplifiers have a value of 0.8V, while Sony amplifiers have 8V.
Step 2
Remove the car radio and attach the adapter to connect the amplifier. Review the connection diagram. In accordance with it, connect the input wires of the adapter with the acoustic contacts of the car radio. Set the value of the output voltage signal according to the requirements of the amplifier.
Step 3
Perform this operation with particular scrupulousness, since the smoothness of the sound power adjustment depends directly on it. If the values are not adjusted properly, the volume control will be abruptly stepped, which in turn will provoke distorted sound. And this causes serious damage to the speakers.
Step 4
Take duct tape. Attach the line-in adapter to the wire harness to connect the amplifier without line-out. To prevent the adapter from hitting other components of the structure, wrap it with a thin layer of foam rubber, which can be easily secured with electrical tape.
Step 5
Connect the line cable to the adapter outputs. Be sure to observe the markings on the line inputs. Connect the mains wires to the amplifier. Then connect all line wires to it, also observing the marking. Turn on the amplifier. Please note that each speaker should sound according to its location.
Step 6
Check the balance ratio. When turning this knob to the right, only the right speakers should sound; to the left - respectively, left. Check the output level. To do this, turn the volume knob to about 70% of the maximum level. Then, keep the volume to a minimum. If during this manipulation there were no sound distortions, then you connected the amplifier correctly.
