Step 1
Decide on the goals that prompted you to buy a DSLR. For example, if you are going to take it with you on long hikes, be guided by the lightness of the case. Even the extra 200-300 g in field conditions can be quite significant. However, another requirement is also imposed on a travel camera: its body must be made of shock-resistant material. For studio shooting, these requirements are not paramount.
Step 2
Decide which lens mount you like best: the standard screw mount or the bayonet mount. In conditions of the need for a quick change of optics, which is typical for reportage photography, the latter is preferable. The bayonet mount is also found to be more reliable. But if you intend to shoot still lifes using adapter rings and other attachments attached between a DSLR and an interchangeable lens, in this case the thread is in a more advantageous position.
Step 3
Analyze all the pros and cons of each of the more or less large manufacturers of photographic equipment. Without a detailed analysis, it is extremely difficult to choose a particular brand. Each of them has quite a lot of both supporters and opponents, so before making a final decision, make a "test drive": ask your friends to photograph, say, Nikon, Canon and Pentax. It is necessary to analyze everything: the location of the buttons, and how the camera "sits" in the hand, and, of course, the pictures. It is advisable to photograph in different modes and under different lighting conditions. This is how you can determine which brand suits you best.

Find out all about the range of interchangeable lenses hypothetically matching your selected DSLR. For most photographers seriously involved in photography, three types of lenses are of greatest importance: wide-angle (28-35 mm), standard (about 50 mm) and telephoto (85-175 mm). Recently, specialists from light painting increasingly prefer zoom lenses, but, in fairness, it should be noted that for the most part these optics are noticeably inferior to fixed focal length optics. Another important aspect is the lens aperture. The smaller its numerical value, the better.
