Step 1
Connect your cell phone to your computer. To do this, use one of the following tools: usb cable, infrared port, bluetooth connection. After connecting the phone, the system will detect the connection of the new device. Some phone models, when connected to a computer, ask for the type of connection: as a modem or as a storage device. Select the option you want.
Step 2
After that, install a driver that will allow you to use your phone as a modem. It is usually found on the CD that comes with the phone itself. If for some reason there is no disk or driver, download it from the manufacturer's official website. To do this, launch an Internet browser, go to the manufacturer's website, select the required phone model in the list of products, and then click on the driver download link. After installing it, restart your computer.
Step 3
Check if your phone is working properly as a modem. Select "Start" -> "Control Panel" -> "Phone and Modem Options". Enter the area code and open the "Modems" tab. If your phone is listed, the driver is installed correctly. If not, repeat the installation procedure.
Step 4
In the same tab, select the modem and click on the "Properties" button. Open the "Diagnostics" tab and select "Poll the modem". If there is no result - most likely, another modem installed in the system interferes with work. Using the settings, connect it to a COM port, the serial number of which will be greater than the COM port number of the telephone modem.
Step 5
Create connections to access the Internet. Select "Start" -> "Connection" -> "Show all connections". Select "Create a new connection", then "Connect to the Internet", "Set up a connection manually", "Via a regular modem". Select a telephone modem from the list. Enter an arbitrary name for the service provider, specify * 99 # or * 99 *** 1 # as the number. The name and password for each mobile operator is different - as a rule, they coincide with the name of the operator. For example, beeline, mts, etc. Then click "Finish". Using the created connection, you can access the Internet.
