Absorbent pads in printers and MFPs have a limited lifespan. The replacement can be done by yourself, in some cases it is enough just to clean the gasket from dried ink.

It is necessary

  • - container for washing;
  • - water;
  • - ethanol;
  • - PrintHelp program or similar;
  • - a container for draining ink with a capillary tube.

Instructions

Step 1

Each time you clean the nozzles, the printer takes a small amount of ink and dumps it into an absorbent pad called a “pampers”. At the same time, a device for accounting for discarded ink works, which at a certain moment can block printing and give the user a notification about the need to send the printer to a service center to replace the absorbent pad. You can solve the problem without expensive repairs by resetting the reset counter and cleaning the gasket yourself.

Step 2

The location of the "pampers" in printers can be completely different, it all depends on the model. To clean or replace the absorbent pad, you need to open the service compartment of the printer or MFP and carefully examine the place where the carriage is installed in service mode. Under the carriage, there is a pallet with a cleaner block, from which a thin hose extends. This hose ends with a small bath in which a gasket is installed - a small piece of felt, having a thickness of up to one centimeter.

Step 3

To remove dried ink from the absorbent pad, remove it and soak it in a mixture of ethyl alcohol and water in equal proportions for several hours. After soaking, the "diaper" must be thoroughly rinsed under running water until the resulting liquid becomes colorless. After flushing, the gasket should be completely dry and reinstalled.

Step 4

When the printer is used intensively, it is easier to drain the waste ink than to constantly clean the absorbent pad. To do this, you need to disconnect the tube coming from the cleaning device and direct it to the container for collecting ink. It can be an ordinary plastic bottle with two holes in the stopper: one for the tube, the other for the air outlet. The container must be placed in a place convenient for observation in order to promptly drain the waste paint.

Step 5

Even after replacing or cleaning the absorbent pad, the printer will not be able to start printing because the lock is on. To remove it, you will need to use a program for servicing printers, for example - PrintHelp. In the program interface, you need to select the printer connected to the computer and remove the locks by pressing the corresponding button in the service menu of the program.
