Step 1

Before proceeding with the removal of the air lock, check the tightness of the mounting bolts located on the cylinder block and pump. Also check the tightness of the connecting pipes. It is not uncommon for air to enter the cooling system due to poorly tightened fasteners. Tighten the bolts if necessary and firmly connect the loosened hose. Replace a pipeline that has unrecoverable deformations with a known good one.

Step 2

Inspect the cylinder block gasket and the block itself for damage. If darkening or obvious cracks are visually detected on the block head, exhaust gases may enter the cooling system. In this case, replace the cylinder head; otherwise, a one-time removal of the airlock will not lead to a positive result.

Step 3

Disconnect the expansion tank cap. Usually it is a translucent plastic container with a neck and serves to compensate for changes in the volume of the working fluid during temperature fluctuations. With the reservoir cap removed, repeatedly squeeze the radiator hoses with your hands to remove the air formed during the fluid change from the system.

Step 4

Place the vehicle on an overpass or hill so that the front is higher than the rear. Start the engine at idle speed after removing the radiator cap. If there is a heater in the system, set its regulator to the maximum power, which will allow the coolant to actively pass through the heating system. Allow the engine to run for a while so that the air lock is out of the system.

Step 5

After removing the air lock, check the coolant level in the system; if necessary, bring it to normal. Screw on the radiator and expansion tank caps until they stop.
