Periodically, there are times when, for one reason or another, it becomes necessary for you to turn off one of the speakers of your sound situation. For example, the speaker drowns out the interlocutor who is near it, and the music is too good to turn it off completely, or the speaker built into the speaker sat down (wheezes) and spoils the whole sound. What to do?

Instructions

Step 1

There are two ways to remove sound from one of the speakers: hardware and software. The first case is convenient if the speaker has a wire fastener for a screw connection. In this case, it will be enough for you to take a Phillips screwdriver and flip one or both wires from the speaker you need.

Step 2

In 5: 1 and 7: 1 sound systems, all speakers have separate connectors (jacks) on the amplifier or subwoofer. Therefore, it will be enough to pull out the plug of the speaker you need from the corresponding socket of the switching equipment. After that, you will need to make sure that you open the correct circuit of the audio system. To do this, set the volume to a sufficient level and make sure there is no sound from the required speaker.

Step 3

The second way to mute the sound from one of the speakers is software. It is convenient in that you do not need to unscrew or pull out anything. It will be enough to use one of the standard utilities of your operating system.

Step 4

The easiest option is to left-click on the speaker icon in the lower right corner of the Windows screen. In the window that opens, you will see the volume slider, and above it the speaker icon. Click on it with the left mouse button. In the menu that opens, go to the "Levels" tab. In the opened tab in the column "Internal speakers / headphones" click on the "Balance" button with the left mouse button. An additional menu tab with speaker volume controls will appear on the screen. Move the desired rail (left or right) all the way to the left. Sound from one of the speakers will be cut off.

Step 5

Alternatively, you can click on the "Start" button and select the "Control Panel" tab in the window that appears. You will see a window with options for configuring Windows settings. In this window, you need to double-click on the icon with the image of the column and the inscription "Sound". Then you will need to repeat the steps indicated in the previous step.
