Portable electronic devices are not assembled in cardboard cases, because such a case will quickly become unusable when carried. A stationary speaker system can be easily assembled in a cardboard box. It will have a very pleasant sound.
Instructions
Step 1
Take two identical cardboard boxes. They should be strong enough and aesthetically pleasing, and not deformed. The larger their sizes, the better the sound quality will be.
Step 2
Take two dynamic heads with a power of about three watts. Their dimensions are not critical. Sound quality is determined by the size of the enclosures to a much greater extent than by the size of the drivers. A large speaker in a small enclosure will sound worse than a small speaker in a large enclosure.
Step 3
In the middle of the lid of each of the boxes, cut out a hole with a model knife, which completely repeats the shape of the diffuser of the head. Also drill four small holes that line up with the speaker mounting holes.
Step 4
Place any suitable fabric that allows sound to pass between the speaker and the box lid, and tighten the fabric slightly to secure the head. Do not forget to use, in addition to screws and nuts, and washers.
Step 5
Drill several dozen small diameter holes from the back of the box. Also make two thermometer-shaped mounting holes on top. The bottom of the hole should be larger than the head of the nail or screw for attaching the speaker to the wall, and the top should be smaller.
Step 6
Take four rubber mugs about 5 mm thick and glue them in the corners of the back of the speaker. Thanks to them, the case will be located at a distance from the wall, which is necessary for the correct operation of the open-type speaker system. Such a system is characterized by an increased efficiency, and at a power of about 3 W it sounds about the same volume as a modern one, damped from the inside with foam rubber and has no holes on the back wall, at a power of about 15 W, and the quality of bass transmission can be even higher.
Step 7
Take a flexible two-wire cable with stranded conductors of 0.75 square millimeters. Solder the wires to the speaker. Lead the cable out. Attach the cover securely to the housing to prevent vibration from dropping.
Step 8
Having assembled two speakers, hang them on the wall, and then connect them to a stereo amplifier, the output power of which per channel does not exceed the rated power of one dynamic head, and which is designed to connect speakers with an impedance equal to that of the heads. Do not place the speakers outdoors, where they can be exposed to atmospheric precipitation.
