Contradictory rumors about the release of the Facebook smartphone have been circulating in the global community since 2011. A branded gadget from a popular social network was repeatedly "buried" by journalists, and even Zuckerberg himself has denied information about the development of a smartphone, but the press continues to announce its possible sale in 2013.
It is worth noting that all messages about the development of a smartphone from Facebook were based solely on information from so-called anonymous sources and have never received official confirmation. The authoritative agency Bloomberg and the Taiwanese edition of DigiTimes shared information from sources.
It was assumed that HTC will release the new Facebook phone. Experts called Android the most likely operating system for the new gadget, and the model will go on sale in the third quarter of 2012. That is, simultaneously with direct competitors - the new Windows Phone and iPhone. Polish designer-enthusiast Michal Bonikowski even clearly showed how, in his opinion, a “facebook phone” should look like - a super-flat one, equipped with two cameras and with a user interface that is maximally adapted for communication on social networks.
However, at the end of July, there were messages from the Bloomberg agency, which announced the later release dates for the smartphone from Facebook - 2013. And literally the next day, all predictions were officially denied by Mark Zuckerberg. In his conference call dedicated to the financial report of Facebook for the second quarter of 2012, the owner of the most popular social network said that the company would not produce any of its own gadgets at all. It is more expedient, according to Zuckerberg, to integrate Facebook tools as much as possible into existing popular mobile technologies, rather than develop their own.
However, even after that, rumors about the release of "Facebook" in 2013 did not stop. Although it is quite possible that they will be partially justified. It is not excluded that HTC will simply replenish the line of smartphones "sharpened" for the use of the social network with a new copy. And although it will be released under the HTC brand and not Facebook, the new “smart phone” will be maximally adapted for convenient use of the mobile version of the social network, just like the existing HTC Salsa and Chacha models.
