Multi-colored bulbs and LEDs are used to illuminate indicators and keypads in telephones, players, car radios. If the user does not like the backlight color, the light source can be replaced with another one.
Instructions
Step 1
Completely disconnect the device to be modified from the power supplies as well as from other devices to which it is connected. If the instrument contains a removable battery, remove it. Do the same with the memory card and SIM card.
Step 2
To disassemble the device, use a set of special screwdrivers suitable for the non-standard slotted screws. Do not try to unscrew these screws with ordinary screwdrivers: if the slots are damaged, it will become impossible to disassemble the device.
Step 3
When disassembling the device, remember what and in what sequence you deleted. Place the screws in a jar or attach to a magnet. Sketch which of the screws was where. If you disassemble a phone in a slider or clamshell form factor, try to find instructions for disassembling it on specialized sites, because its order is not always intuitive. If the device is equipped with a non-removable battery, disconnect it temporarily.
Step 4
Do not try to replace the LEDs that illuminate the phone display - removing the backlight assembly from the display will rarely replace it. Replace the SMD LEDs illuminating the keyboard with a miniature soldering iron. Observe the polarity of their connection. In a device where the illumination is carried out by bulbs, if they have not burned out, it is enough to change the color to change the color caps. Replace burnt out lamps without paying attention to the polarity. Avoid short circuits while doing this. Do not try to replace fluorescent and electroluminescent light sources yourself, if you have no experience.
Step 5
If you have a non-removable battery, reconnect it with the correct polarity. Reassemble the device in reverse order. Install a removable battery, SIM card, and memory card. Check the device for functionality.
