Step 1
The backlight is the culprit for most of the troubles; most scanners use cold fluorescent lamps. The service life of such lamps is much longer than that of conventional ones, however, they also tend to break.
Step 2
Organizations engaged in the repair of office equipment, for a fairly large amount of money, replace the fluorescent lamps in the scanner. It is cheaper and easier to purchase the lamp you need on your own and replace it.
Step 3
First, make sure the problem is really with the lamp. The lamp that has served its life has darkening in the end part, it glows unevenly and dimly.

You can see how the lamp is on by turning on the scanner and lifting the cover. At this time, the scanning head is extended, calibration is performed, the lamp is on at this moment. A fluorescent lamp can be found either complete with an inverter, or single. The cover of the scanner is carefully removed, the lamp is dismantled, but you must not touch the optical system, that is, the lenses. It is advisable to wipe the lenses from dust and dirt with a clean, damp cloth. The new lamp is removed from the package and is very thin and fragile and should be handled with care.

Most often, scanner lamps are packaged in an acrylic tube that must be opened before installing the lamp. It is likely that you will have to adjust the length of the wires in place and change the connector with which the lamp is connected to the control circuit. Only then can the lamp be connected.
Step 6
If the purchased lamp is shorter than the old lamp, then when scanning documents, dark streaks may appear at one end of the sheet or around the edges, depending on the position of the lamp. The color rendition after replacing the lamp can be corrected in a graphics editor. If, after replacing the lamp, the scanner generates an error when scanning a document, then you need to check if the wire is intact.

When installing the scanner for the first time, a problem may occur due to the transport switch locking and holding the lamp. It is made in order not to damage the scanning mechanism during transportation. You just need to open it and the scanner will work fine.
