Getting lost in an unfamiliar city is as easy as shelling pears. A mobile phone can come to the rescue, with which almost no one is parting today. Use the services of a telecom operator or navigate on Google or Yandex maps.
Instructions
Step 1
Call your service provider's service desk, introduce yourself and ask them to locate you. To do this, you may need to tell the PIN code of your phone so that the dispatcher can make sure that you are the owner of the mobile phone. However, the error in determining your location can be from several hundred meters to several kilometers, depending on how far away from you the mobile towers are.
Step 2
You can get such information if you are a subscriber of Megafon-Moscow or Megafon-St. Petersburg cellular communication. When you connect to this operator, you automatically become a user of the Nearest service. In order to determine your location, you just need to select this service from the menu list, then the object in which you are interested (for example, a museum or a cafe) and confirm your choice. Receive an SMS with a list of objects of interest to you, which will also include the name of the nearest metro station by default.
Step 3
Download Google or Yandex cards to your phone memory or microSD card. In phones based on Android, GoogleMaps are already included in the device's memory. Select these maps from the menu to determine the location, which can be refined by zooming in on the map. However, if YandexMaps works with any type of connection, then Google is best used by enabling GPRS or 2G.
Step 4
Do not use mobile and Internet services that offer to determine your location with an accuracy of a meter if you send an SMS with a code word or indicate your phone number in the service activation line. If, nevertheless, you fell for the bait of scammers, call your telecom operator or send a letter to the support service in order to prevent attempts to access your phone from these services. Otherwise, money will be debited from your account until you block access.
