Many have music or other material on tape that needs to be converted into modern digital format. Instructions
Step 1
Prepare a minijack-to-minijack audio cable, that is, the same as for headphones for a player or computer. You can buy it at any computer hardware store and it is inexpensive.
Step 2
Plug the cable into the headphone jack on the tape deck on one side. Connect the other end of the cable to the line-in jack on your computer sound card. Most often, this is the connector on the back of the PC, marked in blue. This rule applies to both built-in and external sound cards, so just plug the cable into the blue jack.
Step 3
Start the built-in recording software. All versions of the Windows operating system have an application through which you can record sound, including music from a tape recorder to your computer.
