Manufacturers of inkjet printers make more profit from the sale of consumables for them than from the sale of the printers themselves. But many users consider the prices for original cartridges incompatible with their income level, as a result of which "alternative" ways of replenishing the spent consumables have appeared. Most ink cartridges can be refilled after emptying, but some will need to be rinsed before doing so. It is quite possible to do this at home.
It is necessary
A sharp knife, glue, a medical syringe, a lot of running water
Instructions
Step 1
Inkjet cartridges usually need to be flushed in several cases: - before refilling the cartridge with ink that differs from the previous ones, for example, by type or manufacturer. This is to prevent a possible chemical reaction between different inks; - when refueling an old cartridge that has not been used for a long time, the ink in which has had time to thicken and dry; - to restore the absorbent properties of the ink-holding sponge after several refills.
Step 2
The first step is to remove the top plastic cover from the cartridge using a sharp knife. It is better to do this, as, in principle, and all subsequent actions, over a newspaper spread out in several layers, or an oilcloth. The procedure is not particularly complicated, but it can be very messy, because some part of the ink is probably still in the cartridge case. The paint sponges are removed and placed in trays (jars, cups - not essential) with clean water. The cartridge body, including all accessible openings such as nozzles, is gently flushed with lukewarm water using a conventional medical syringe. After that, all parts are left to dry.
Step 3
The sponges removed from the cartridge body must be thoroughly rinsed in a large amount of running water until clean water begins to flow from them. After rinsing, the sponges will retain their color, but the color shade will become noticeably lighter. The final rinse is ideally carried out in distilled water, after which the sponges must be wrung out and dried. Actually, everything: dried sponges are put into the cartridge in their places, the lid is fixed with glue, the cartridge is washed and ready for refueling.
