Inkjet printers, unlike laser printers, have one inconvenient feature - after a long idle time, if you do not use the printer for a while, its printheads dry up, and the device stops functioning. Do not throw away the printer right away - dried printheads can be washed at a service center or by hand at home.
Instructions
Step 1
To clean the printer heads, purchase a glass cleaner containing ammonia from a hardware store. You will also need pure distilled water, which can be purchased at the pharmacy or obtained after defrosting the refrigerator, and simple medical cotton wool.
Step 2
Get a washed and dry plastic mold, a plastic bag with a lock, or a plastic mold lid. In addition, you will need disposable syringes with 10-20 ml needles and household wipes.
Step 3
Remove the printhead from the printer carriage and clean old ink from it by blotting it with absorbent tissue or toilet paper. Blot the head nozzles until there are no ink marks on the napkin. Take a new cloth and soak it in glass washer fluid.
Step 4
Gently, without pressing, wipe the printhead surface without touching the electrical contact board. Draw the flushing liquid into the syringe and rinse the places with the remaining traces of ink through the needle hole at a short distance. Blot the head again with a napkin. If the head has removable cartridges, seal the intake nipples with medical cotton and soak it liberally in the flushing fluid.
Step 5
Place the print head nozzles down in a plastic mold and fill it with warm flushing liquid. The fluid should be a few millimeters above the head nozzle. Place a sealed lid on the mold or close it tightly with a plastic bag.
Step 6
After a day, open the form, remove the printheads and repeat the above steps, then re-place the heads in the liquid for a day. Check the readiness of the printheads with a wipe - if there is no ink left on the wipe, you have cleaned the printheads.
Step 7
Draw clean flushing liquid into a syringe and finally flush out dirt and dust from the head. Blot the nozzles with a napkin, remove the cotton wool from the intake fittings and blot them. Dry the printhead gently and dry it with a hair dryer. After half an hour, refill the cartridge and install the head in its place in the printer.
