Step 1
Prepare the necessary materials. You will need: an old but working moped, some scrap metal to make a snowmobile frame and welding. It is also necessary to purchase ready-made skis, but it will be possible to make it yourself from duralumin. But remember that ordinary welding will not work for duralumin welding. Those who say that it will do - do not understand anything. You will have to cook with argon.
Step 2
Modify the motor mount for a wider base on the snowmobile. Here you can cope with conventional metal corners and arc welding. You can also make the drive wheel yourself. Rotation transmission - chain. Do not try to make large lugs, because if at the time of gas transfer, frozen ground gets under the lug of your snowmobile, then there is a chance of a chain break.
Step 3
Make a muffler. It is not necessary to achieve a special quality of noise reduction, because, cutting across the snowy plain, you will not wake up the bear with the noise of the engine of your homemade snowmobile, and the rest of the animals will be afraid to mess with such a miracle.
Step 4
Change the moped launcher to a manual start. Judge for yourself, in massive winter shoes it is impossible to start the winding lever by jerking with your foot. So for convenience and quick start it is better to use manual start.
Step 5
Weld a box under the seat. It will be good for storing spare parts and keys, as well as transporting the necessary things or taking supplies with you if you are a fan of winter fishing or long trips. It will also be useful to keep a bottle of vodka there at all times in case the chain breaks. By all accounts, it's pretty easy to make a snowmobile with your own hands.
